Modulation of ionic current rectification direction for biomimetic aluminum oxide membrane by surface modification

نویسندگان

چکیده

A biomimetic aluminum oxide membrane having asymmetric channels with a minimum diameter of 20 nm, maximum 80 and length 5 µm was prepared using square pulse anodization. The effectively permitted transfer anions only showed an ionic current rectification characteristic ratio 2.4. After the sulfonic acid group introduced by surface modification, cations 2.7. This modulation direction consistent theoretical prediction through numerical analysis 2D models. These findings present convenient method to control ion transport for exchange membrane.

Surface Modification of Silicone Rubber Membrane by Microwave Discharge to Improve Biocompatibility

Wetability of biocompatible polymers can be improved by plasma surface modification. The purpose of this study was to surface modify an experimental poly (dimethylsiloxane) rubber (PDMS) material in order to improve its wetability and biocompatibility. Surface properties of the PDMS were characterized using contact angles measurement for wetability analysis. Samples of experimental silico...

Studies of ionic current rectification using polyethyleneimines coated glass nanopipettes.

The modification of glass nanopipettes with polyethyleneimines (PEIs) has been successfully achieved by a relatively simple method, and the smallest tip opening is around 3 nm. Thus, in a much wider range of glass pipettes with radii from several nanometers to a few micrometers, the ion current rectification (ICR) phenomenon has been observed. The influences of different KCl concentrations, pH ...

Synthesis of a Disperse Phase of Barium Oxide on Aluminum Oxide by Successive Ionic Layer Deposition

Successive ionic layer deposition (SILD), also known as successive ionic layer adsorption and reaction (SILAR), is an aqueous method which exploits the electric double layer effect to create thin solid films on supports. In SILD, submonolayers of desired cations and anions are alternately and selectively adsorbed on a support material to produce SILD nanoislands or nanolayers with controlled co...

Surface modification for titanium implants by hydroxyapatite nanocomposite

Background: Titanium (Ti) implants are commonly coated with hydroxyapatite (HA). However, HA has some disadvantages such as brittleness, low tensile strength and fracture toughness. It is desirable to combine the excellent mechanical properties of ZrO2 and the chemical inertness of Al2O3 with respect to the purpose of this project which was coating Ti implants with HA-ZrO2-Al2O3 to modify the s...

Optimization of the FeCo nanowire fabrication embedded in anodic aluminum oxide template by response surface methodology

Anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) fabricated by two step anodization technique, is used as a template to synthesize FeCo nanowire arrays by AC electrodeposition technique. Response surface methodology (RSM) is applied to design the experiments, fit an empirical model and optimize the conditions to achieve the best magnetic properties. The magnetic properties, pore dimensions, composition and structur...
